Research scientist & business development

Syntrix Biosystems is currently seeking an entry level or senior scientist to be part of, and possibly lead, a team that develops and brings to market novel analytical probes, synthetic building blocks and related reagents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Biophysical analysis and characterization of nucleic acid-based and peptide probes using fluorescence spectroscopy, and thermal dissociation analysis by spectrophotometry.
  • Synthesis of probes at both the test-scale and production-scale.
  • Interact with contracting synthesis laboratories in the manufacture of probe precursor monomers.
  • Understand the life science tool market and identify market applications and opportunities for the company's technology.
  • Conceptualize product-presentation, packaging and marketing for deployment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or other suitable field.
  • Strong background in organic chemistry and biophysical analysis.
  • Background in product development and marketing of chemistry-based tools for the molecular biology market highly desired but not absolutely required.
  • Background or ability to identify market opportunities for new technology and ability to strategize and execute into full product development.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support positive interaction with fellow laboratory members.
  • The ideal candidate will have a history of scientific success, be team oriented and able to work independently.  Candidate will potentially build and lead the team that will run this technology business unit.
