Advisory Members

• William Atkins, Ph.D., Scientific Advisor, is a Associate Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Washington.  Dr. Atkins received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and received his M.A. in Pharmacology from Harvard University.

• Alan Mayer, M.D., Ph.D., Scientific Advisor, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical College.  Dr. Mayer received his B.S. and M.S. in Biochemistry at Emory University and both his M.D. and Ph.D. from the Weill Medical College at Cornell University.

• Barton Kamen, M.D., Ph.D., Scientific Advisor, is Professor and Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Robert Wood Johnson University Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey (UMDNJ).  Dr. Kamen is an American Cancer Society Clinical Research Professor and is the associate director of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.  He received is M.D. and Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland Ohio.  He is an internationally recognized expert in antifolate biochemistry and antifolate therapy, and pioneered the recent clinical use of aminotrexate™ (aminopterin) in the treatment of pediatric leukemia (exclusively licensed to the Company).  He continues to head two ongoing Phase 2 trials evaluating the efficacy of aminotrexate™ in pediatric leukemia.
